Corcoran State Prison in California Guards used to send known enemies into a small exercise yard at the same time, they'd fight, sometimes the guards would shoot. Bets were on and so were the cameras.

Giving them an audience just inspires others to want to be in their place could actually backfire on us - every kid in my neighborhood can't spell his own name, but is destin in their own minds to be a "foobaww" star!

Misread the title: I thought this meant small performances for the LI viewers would be tolerated. They could halt the process while one executioner fumbled about in a pocket looking for a vial. Sheepishly, like in an Abbott and Costello routine, "The poison, I thought you were supposed to bring it!"

Lethal injection is like putting a dog down. Euthanasia is an easy death. The problem with the US is that the average sentence served for murder is 5 years. Gladiator fights would stop that.
