Every office has files that strike fear into
those who must either handle them or
who lives they concern.
These could contain the lurid details of
illicit affairs, or the tax investigations of
the unwary, who wait oblivious to the
impending visit of the auditors, detailed
files in hand.
These
files need to be treated with more
gravity than the regular material of
routine
office procedure. They need to be stored
in a special place. That place is The Filing
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
This cabinet is kept at the dead end of a
dark corridor, and is only to be
approached
with extreme caution in an atmosphere
of
creeping fear. Its angles are odd and
contorted. Its colours and patterns are
dank and foreboding. References to the
famous film from which it takes its name
and style abound.
Its drawers scrape, screech and echo as
they are opened, releasing a fetid dank
odour appropriate to the gravity of their
dreaded contents.
Delux version, complete with figures,
who
stare down woefully, illustrated on link.

I'd like a portable version, a little soundbox that I could drop in the back of colleagues' credenzas, that would make random shrieks and muffled cries for help at random times. |

You have filing cabinets? how quaint. |

Database of Terror just doesn't sound the same. |

Filodex of Terror? Maybe. |

Makes me want to watch that movie. |

It needs a proximity sensor that triggers the release of a wall of fog that is blown toward the person approaching while projecting ghostly scenes onto the fog. |

And a pale, wide-eyed damsel with fake lashes who can convey fear...and someone to play organ music. Definitely an organ. |
