This was inspired by "Top Gun". Do you remember these dogfights which were made even better by the soundtrack? What if we could play music of this kind to our combat pilots? Of course this would distract them, but we don't have to play it with full volume. If U.S. pilots have just received an order to
bomb a target in a heavily populated area, the stereo could play patriotic songs in order to stir heroic feelings and disperse moral qualms(Yes, this is evil, but sometimes there is a target right in the middle of the civilians which HAS to be destroyed, at least the high officers says so)...
Or what about playing songs to keep the pilots awake during a long night mission?
This would not disturb radio communications, as it could naturally be stopped if a message came in.
And what else could the theme music be, but

The cd player is good, but actually is not up to the job for some reasons. First, it would not stop automatically if a radio message came in. The pilot may confuse a warning with the song lyrics. And then, there is the obvious problem with the fit of this darn thing. You can't wear one under your helmet AND don a headset. |

Have you heard of in ear headphones? Besides, you only need to hear the music in one ear. These guys are trained to move their left eye independently of the right eye, i'm pretty sure they can tell the difference between a lyric and an order from a screaming Commander. |

Combat pilots already bring up their own CD players. They only listen to them during uneventful legs of their flights though. During the heavily burdened potions, i.e. refueling, bombing, T-O and landing, they are taking numerous audible cues from the aircraft and the music interferes. |
