This idea stems from the shaping of watermelons into cubes by placing it inside a plastic cube and letting it fill out inside.
Basically the person would take a mold of their face and send it in to the company. They then make a plastic mold of their face and make it into a container. They let the
watermelon grow inside the container and... voila! A watermelon with your face on it!
Great for weddings, graduation, funerals (death mask verson)!

I'm sure I read, a few years ago, about
someone growing aubergines (eggplants)
in transparent face-caricature-shaped
molds. However, Googling didn't find it,
so it may just have been the solvents. |

I think a watermelon's surface is too thick for this. Even the cubic ones aren't completely cubic. |

But what if both mold and watermelon are gigantic, [phundug]? Using some genet... err... selective breeding techniques we could produce ego-sized watermelons. |

Squares are kind of extreme - for shapes closer to round, I could see this working. Nice idea for the Effigies-R-Us chain of stores. |

I've done some bodycasting, headcasting. All very do-able. |

Sounds alot like Bonzai Kittens, but with melons. |

Whaddaya mean? I can't be expected to come up with brain-meltingly stupendous and impossibly fantastic ideas every single day, genius is tiring [Jutta]. I honestly thought you would have known that. |
