Use a 3D camera like the iPhone X does. I don't remember
for sure, but it might detect your pulse too. |

If somebody did spoof the system they'd have to
have
a picture of the actual cat with matching fur
markings which is possible, they just take a picture
of the cat, but getting access to a house through a
10" x 8" door isn't going to do you much good unless
you're a very small burglar. |

That being said, this is only a half-joke, people
spend a lot of money for stupid things for their
pets these days. |

You could even go fully insane and train the dog to
bark when prompted and place their paw on the
scanner for audio and pawprint scanning. At that
point though you might want to consider getting
professional help. |

Most pets are chipped these days anyway so why not just use a
chip reader? |

They are? Dang, been a long time since I've had a pet. My
dog had a collar and I had the same attitude about collars
for cats that cats do. |

Well, I don't really know that most are but the vets these
days (well mine anyway) seem to to push chipping like
McDonald's counter staff push chips ("would you like fries
with that?") whenever you go in for
something else, mine got
done when I had his round furry bits chopped, a quick jab &
it's done & compared to what I actually went in for
practically free. |

So I [assume] anyone who gets their animal its shots will
have had it done.. & anyone who can't (or won't) afford to
get their animal its shots is unlikely to be shelling out on
fancy cat flaps anyway :) |

Instead of buns, you should be thinking of money. There is
LOTS and LOTS of money for the maker of this idea. It should
be your database and your software, and let the hardware
makers compete on making and selling it. Take a yearly fee
of 1 USD for each pet in the database. |
