Extra Medium

A new standard in clothing sizes
  (+8, -5)
(+8, -5)
  [vote for,
against]

A new clothing size that could realistically fall on either side of "Medium" (XL is larger than L, XS is smaller than S). Customers should not know which side though.

Consistency would suggest that stockists would not be privvy to this secret either; judging by the inconsistency found in existing sizes.

Yes! I think there should be more sizes availible. So this would be good. I know many companies use number sizes, but for those who don't, more sizes should be adapted.

Or a new way to order your steak cooked. I've actually done that before. Extra Medium please.
globaltourniquet, Jun 13 2001

Yes! The size that is even more in between large and small than medium is. Just what I need!

Notice the voting so far. Is this idea more average than most ideas, or what?
globaltourniquet, Jun 13 2001

I think it's somewhere in between.

Or it's when you broadcast a show on tv _and_ radio.

       I'd like a universal system using animals to define the different sizes;

All height would be defined using the term 'giraffe'. E.g. SG, LG (Small Giraffe, Large Giraffe). Would be combined with existing sizes, Medium Small Giraffe, Extra Large Small Giraffe (and of course Extra Medium Small Giraffe).

Width would be defined by other animal-types, depending on the actual size of the item. E.g. a grown-up mans pants could be Extra Medium Small Giraffe-Medium Rhino. A baby sweater could be Extra Extra Small Giraffebaby-Large Hamster.

Lazerlore - I think this sounds like a whole new idea - I've started a thread on your behalf - 'Surreal Clothes sizing" this one could run and run...

I walked with the runt and in time grew apart.
Served a fat bastard till the mask just fell off.
Ambled in the 'mids' this very long while
Wondering if average will come back in style.

I would like clothing that is desinged to fit *people* rather than models. Once we have that, we can sort out what to name it.

Id like to see alternatives to the "easy fit for stout people" you find in most high street shops. Perhaps clothes could me made in skinny/medium/stout as well as chest or waist size. At smaller sizes , clothes could be made in smaller incremets.

Look, this was an idea that was had long ago. Regretably, it never manifested itself physically. Anyhow, I'm medium. I have always wanted my sweaters to fit ever more properly than they already do.

       I'm all for multimedia.
