A group of scientist friends realize that knowledge is making everything worse for people and look for a way to change it so that most people won't know science and will even be against science.
They look for a way to effectively stop new technology development and reach a stage where nobody understands
anything anymore. Except of course to those that do. But THEY are committed. They can only gain from keeping the secret, and helping all humanity save itself from its own hands.
They look to biomimicry as a way to fight destructive "enemies". They notice that a method for making a bio-pesticide alternative is to introduce infertile mosquitoes into the population so that they diminish the next generation of harmful creatures. They then discuss using a similar strategy for dealing with dangerous religions. (Let's not say names).
They assemble a group of very persuasive people. We'll call them the new missionaries, although at this stage of the Halfbakery idea (if it is an idea), they still don't have a name yet. They are people who originally came from those targeted religious backgrounds, but who are now realizing the horrible consequences of their former beliefs and wish to do something about it.
The movie shows a dystopian world where patriots of different sides are arming themselves to the teeth preparing for battle and attack. The discussions between the people are funny, because they are so silly for an outsider listening in, but, in all truth, the "patriotic" conclusions are scary, and the "new missionaries", upon hearing this are actually horrified, reporting in on what's happening.
Here, at the Exclusive Science Center, we are at a battle with time. We must get our new religious ideas out and inseminated into the population before the world is blown to pieces.
We have a problem. We need to convince the believers that we are teaching THEIR religion and get them excited about it. We must convince the leaders that WE are their teachers and that we are directly in touch with the gods or other holy deities that they have. We have to flawlessly speak their language with all the nuances of their teachings.
And at the same time, change their attitude from being positive to drugs to drones and to fake conspiracy theories, to preaching against drugs and drones, by using new fake conspiracy theories.
Basically the movie goes into several very different locations in South East Asia, in Africa, in Central America and in the Middle East and they are sure that they were able to convince the mobs to believe in them. But then one stupid person gets it wrong and decides that science should be for everybody.
He tries to explain his idea to the head of his religion, and in order to demonstrate the benefits of technology brings a remote control button (which by then became an abomination) and presses it. Unknown to him or to the woman who is his leader, the remote button actually activates a very old briefcase from many years ago, which opens up and begins a countdown.
The End.

Certainly seems like an original idea. Why the bone? |

Looks like you put a lot of effort into this so [+] for effort. |

//will even be against science//
Unfortunately, we're there already (for a percentage of the population). |
//Here, at the Exclusive Science Center, we are at a battle with time.// |
To me, this sounds too much like the Berkeley Consensus for comfort. |
Since a potential future administration in the USA has a policy of scrapping America's Department of Education, the ethos that "knowledge is making everything worse for people" may actually be brought into reality. For the first time in human history, dumbing down of an entire country becomes an aspiration. |
Reaching out for attention eh? Sad. |
Sorry, but daughter just got back from her three week trip to Vienna, Mongolia and South Korea. After the welcome home party last night with friends we're going to restaurants and shopping, just being together. |
So maybe instead of lighting this place on fire to try to get attention get some physical interaction going with friends or family. If you can't, maybe spend some time addressing that. |
People join cults for a reason. |
Just connecting idea posted here with a potential reality. Maybe I misread the proposal in the 2025 document about scrapping the department of education and you can enlighten me, but I'm quite sure I read that. |
Trump disavowed the 2025 document, it wasn't made by him, you're a brainwashed sheep. |
But not at all surprised that you'd support the department of de-education supporting shit like saying that math is "racist" in an effort to keep the people down, especially people of color who they say need to know their place. |
Sorry, I know you want to interact with me but I'm spending time with people I love. You live your cult existence, I'll live life my own way. |
Doc - I have no interaction with you. You decided to stop your family business and post a reply to something I posted. That was your choice, yet I feel I am being informed by you that I should refrain from making my comments here because it somehow affects something that you are doing. I'm just addressing the idea posted here, and connecting it to the plan for the scrapping of America's Department of Education as detailed in the article I posted. Meanwhile, it may surprise you to know that you are not the only person who reads the posts on the halfbakery. I simply find it fascinating that a political party could make such an election promise and it's a sort of weird halfbaked idea in its own right. It ties in perfectly with the idea here. |
Where the hell did you stumble on that? |
Just something in my playlist. |
I might steal it at some future time. |
Ehhh ... sort of; on the one hand, you're right, [dr3]; it's not the officially adopted manifesto of the election campaign: on the other hand, it's not nothing either. |
And you know that "brainwashed sheep" is just something that either side of any argument can say when they've given up on dialogue. You're usually better than that. |
"Hello - you have sheep for sale - are they housetrained?"
"Yes, would you like one with the brain already washed?" |
//And you know that "brainwashed sheep" is just something that either side of any argument can say when they've given up on dialogue.// |
There's a metric I came up with to see if you're brainwashed. |
Do you agree with any one side 100% even when their stances change 180 degrees? I don't. Doesn't mean I'm not a brainwashed cult member, but if I am, I'm the world's worst brainwashed cult member. I'm a Libertarian but half their shit pisses me off too. I hate the Republicans, I hate the Democrats, but mainly, I hate any one subject being brought up here constantly just so somebody can stir up shit to get attention. |
Xenzag brings up this Trump garbage and when I counter him, does he debate me? No, he runs away, then comes up with another lie, gets swatted down, runs away and then just does it again. CONSTANTLY. |
This Trump crap doesn't have anything to do with the issues because as soon as I counter some cult drivel, it just stops until the next cult rant. |
I love a good debate. This isn't debate. It's trolling to get attention, xenzag admitted it once, came right out and sait he just did it to piss people off and be an asshole on purpose. And he does it over and over and over again. And let me be clear, the thing that pisses me off isn't this particular subject, it's ANY subject that repeated over and over and over and over and over and over till people get so sick of it they stop coming here. |
Tell you what, let's do a poll. Show of hands. Who wants to hear this shit about Donald fucking Trump every fucking goddam day? Anti OR pro Trump? I vote fuck no. |
And I'll add, once as an experiment I put up my particular stances on the issues we all face. Hey, if we're gonna debate, let's at least do it like people with half a brain. Not a single nibble. You'd think if I was a "Trumper" it would be an awesome opportunity to knock down each and every view I had one by one. Nope. |
Probably started with the fact that half my views are different than Trump so we couldn't to the "Me side perfect, you side devil" thing which I guess gets the dopamine flowing more than actual discourse and discussion. But hey, offer still stands. Anybody want to debate individual issues, I'm your huckleberry. |
I never once mentioned "himself" here. It seems to me that it's not me who has a problem. Too much rage for me. This is not a message board for nasty personalized rants. Post some ideas instead of constantly making me the target of your ire. |
Pram. Toys please [remulac], why not spend a bit more time with that nice family of yours rather than busting a blood vessel every time you get triggered by stuff you don't like? It'd probably do you good, keep you grounded. |
Nobody wants to debate you [remulac], because there's nothing to debate. You're too emotional and can't hold a rational conversation without getting upset or bringing up easily debunked misinformation and conspiracy. It's just not worth anyone's time. |
Racist "math" is another example of the right picking up on something an idiot once said (or deliberately and dishonestly misinterpreting something that someone once said) and pretending/spreading misinformation that it's mainstream or extreme, or widely adopted. Just like 72 genders being "taught in schools", CRT, "abortion after birth" and a whole other bunch of deliberately exaggerated cases where one person said or did something stupid, but the right and Donald Trump himself pretended that's what everyone who's not in their team wants. It's silly and it's not real. |
If people don't like Trump, it's because he goes for and repeats this kind of deliberate and easily debunked type of misinformation. Not his followers (who do it too) but him, the leader, the head honcho. Yes, there are loony ideas on the left, and lots of idiots on the internet. But the difference, largely, is that the leaders on the more centralist side (Reps and Dems alike) seem to be more cautious and careful not to spread that kind of misinformation. It's a sign of competence. |
It is ironic that you'd interrupt you having such a nice time to rain shit and piss on Xenzag for daring to say something you don't like. In case this reply triggers you, feel free to carry on with your family life, as I won't be interested in any bad feelings you (hopefully) wont have anyway. |
[xenzag] keep on posting man, one (very loud and angry) voice isn't the majority, and there's nothing wrong with hearing from a range of views, even if one (very loud and angry) voice keeps trying to shut down views they don't like. |
Interesting how both of you put "zen" in your name. Ironic seeing as you're about as hate filled as anybody I've ever seen. |
And as far as debating, it's always about picking what the opposition views are yourself, not addressing the actual views that person might hold. I didn't say anything about "72 genders being "taught in schools", CRT, "abortion after birth". That's exactly what my point is. If somebody is a member of a hive mind cult, they ASSUME that everybody else is as well. |
I stated that there is a movement to say math is racist. So let's address that. |
Did I make that up? Do your Google search of the hundreds of articles coming up from the search term: "racist math" and tell me it's a fake situation made up by the right. Making embarrassingly wrong proclamations about things they have no clue about is a trademark of the cult. And with such an arrogant tone, yikes! |
But the main thing you both want is to clear this once fun place out so you can "share" your incredibly uninteresting political rants with everybody. |
So the votes are in, 2 people want this place to be turned into a political rant site revolving around one subject: Donald Trump. Anybody else? |
//You're too emotional and can't hold a rational conversation without getting upset or bringing up easily debunked misinformation and conspiracy.// |
Such as? Name it. What's the easily debunked misinformation and conspiracy I brought up? |
Since I'll assume you'll just run away from that one, here's one back at you. |
Did Trump call Nazis fine people after the Charlottsville incident? |
Wanna debate? Let's debate. |
[remulac] I just want you to stop your inappropriate behaviour. It's not fair on others, and it's just not acceptable. |
You've gone off on the deep end again. Please, just calm down. This is a nice place, for nice people, chill ffs. |
He's disavowed lots of things when caught, frankly. It's kinda sorta his observed nature. |
In closing, since Trump is the center of your world, might want to have a look at what a crazed right wing conspiracy theory believing nut job thinks about why people vote for Trump. (link) |
And the offer still stands. If you ever want to have an actual debate about actual specific issues, I'm right here. |
Or better yet, let's just stick to posting creative stuff and leave each other alone. I put a link up to the top 30 political debate sites. Great places to get your hate on. |
No. Not really interested. This is not a debate site. And regardless of xenzag's constant droning, you've never matured past the triggering so all I have now is my before seen contempt when it starts. |
And yes, sticking to the creative has been what I've been basically wanting for a decade or more. |
Don't want to fight? Don't start a fight. Pretty simple stuff. |
The main thing to consider, offense is bad, defense is good. And don't expect somebody to get insulted and just take it either. Then maybe ask yourself why you want to come here to piss people off. |
And again, the person who throws the first shot is at fault. So stop throwing first shots then acting like a peace loving victim if somebody stands up to it. |
And in closing, remember: the biggest asshole is the person who has to have the last word. |
Don't really care if you think I'm the asshole. Take a look at any random debate you've had and just count the lines you've written. There's the sign of a man who can't let it go and needs to follow the advice of his link. |
You bring this chip on your shoulder just waiting for someone to look at you crosseyed expecting to fight. Get out of the defensive posture and smell a rose or three of what's left of this place. |
If you dropped it I would have been the biggest asshole, but you missed it. Rage clouds the mind I guess. |
I'll try it again. Always let the biggest asshole have the last word. |
(No, I didn't miss it. I. Just. Didn't. Care). |
