Evil Twist
A cookie cutter feel good love story with a horrible ending | |
I would like it if there was a cookie cutter feel good love story with pretty people. The story would be simple pretty shy girl likes the stupid clueless hansome guy who is too stupid for his own good. Both come together throught silly happening.
Then at the end of the movie, they get married, in
an outdoor setting. It's a pretty day and all the appropiate guests are there, family, friends, coworkers and a some random pretty face. They say there vows, everyone cheers and they go to a hot air balloon to float off into the sunset.
The credits beging rolling as the ballon balloon begins to float up into the air. The audience in the theator feeling all warm and cuddly begin to leave the theator. Then in the movie about 1/2 to 3/4 way through the credits, one or two of the ropes that hold the ballon basket come loose or break, tipping the newly married couple out. They fall to the ground. The guy breaks his neck and head cracks open in a visually gruesome way and the girl lands flat in such a way that she breaths a few breaths until she chokes on her blood. As the wedding part looks on in horror and shock.
An alternate ending would be they are driving away in a vehicle that has the just married and some cans on strings. As they are driving away they get broadsided by a speeding mac truck. And you get too see the disturbing results.

On a slightly lighter note, you might also enjoy watching 1972's The Heartbreak Kid with Charles Grodin and Cybill Shepherd. The body of the movie is very like you describe leading up to the intimated but not actually shown train wreck ending. Neil Simon and Elaine May at their best. |

I cannot remember the name of the movie but it was set during the civil war. In the movie a captive soldier is being hung on bridge by the enemy. The rope snaps and he narrowly escapes. The rest of the film involves the main character dodging enemy soldiers and returning to his family. Once his life is back to normal and happy.... the rope cinches around his neck and he is hanging under the bridge. The rope breaking, the escape and the return to his family wall just a fleeting scenario that flashed through his mind in a split second during the hanging. What an ending! |

I believe that is "Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge". Based on a short story by... by... ah, just google it |

Yes, a good movie. Also see "Bambi meets Godzilla" [link]. |

[phundug] Yes! thats the one! |

[rcarty] Muhahahaha! Actually, sorry about that. |

I was watching a video about writing screenplays, where the
lecturer says: [0:57] Nobody goes to a romantic comedy to
see the happy couple die in a car crash at the end. |

There's an idea for HB I thought. But no. Somebody thought
about it a decade ago. Then again, that somebody got all the
fish bones instead of me. So there's a horrible happy ending
to this story too. |
|
|
But I love this for Halloween. Not surprising people who want a feelgood movie with gore - bone to that. |

No, I mean the dance version performed by Evil Chubby Checker! C'mon evil baby! Let's do the evil twist! |

Woah...I just came from reading the wikipedia summary of Odishon. I'm glad I read that instead of seeing it. Or not... |

The low-emotional-budget version of this is pretty commonplace: the villain is vanquished, but during the credits the evil corpse's eyes spring open or fingers twitch. |
|
|
// or fingers twitch //
I was going to say that's not the same thing, but I
guess you're right. Compared to the "happily ever
after" ending, it's a reminder that the good guys
won this round, but there will always be more
conflicts to solve (in a sequel). This idea is of
course the extreme version saying, they may have
overcome the obstacle, but there's nothing
preventing someone from being hit by a Mack
truck. |
|
|
It does seem a bit to random though. I think the
proper way to do this would be to have it all go
bad based on real character flaws that had been
revealed subtly throughout the movie. A not so
subtle version might be a hero who escapes by
driving recklessly, amazingly avoiding hitting many
cars. When everything looks good for him and he
audience expects the movie to end, he fails to
come to a complete stop when making a right turn
and hits a pedestrian, starting a spiral that ruins
his life... |

I think I would prefer the opposite, where a naïve young girl is deep in thought. She is hurrying through the city shortly after midnight, pursued by a hooded figure. The menacing pursuer gets closer. She takes a shortcut through an abandoned morgue, where the figure siezes its chance, reaches out and grabs her shoulder, spinning her round. It's her granny, hurrying to give her the scones she left on the kitchen table when she left. Gramps is outside in a taxi waiting to give her a lift home where her mother has a tray laid with cocoa on the bedside table. |
