Euro Idol

Send Pop Idols to Europe

While it may not find great musicians, Pop Idol does a great job trauling for performers who will win votes.

Why not automatically nominate the winner of Pop Idol to be the UK entry for the European Song Contest?

Terry Wogan and Simon Cowell would be a potent combination too.

Annotation:

st3f, the Eurovision contest has existed for years (and years and years) and is something of a standing joke. People are fond of it because it's just so bad.

Currently there is a terrible TV show called "A song for Europe" which is the UK contest to find a winner who will go on to be our entry for the Eurovision contest. Still with me?

So the thrust of my idea, rather than creating a new contest, would eliminate the "Song for Europe" contest altogether, which simply has to be a great thing.

I agree with the sentiment "Send Pop Idols to Europe".

Just not the bit about them singing on telly again.

we shouldn't send pop idols anywhere. much less television recording studios. i was under the impression that american idol was itself a standing joke.
