Find a star nearing the end of its life. Pour into it various gasses at various times such that they'll sink to appropriate levels to encode a message when the star goes nova. In time we'll have a giant flashing light proclaiming our presence and the fact that "we are not delicious".

Beautiful. I bet Amanda Tapping could do this.

       You’re talking about planet pinball

From the scale involved I presume you’re perturbing the orbits of gas giants to drop them into their sun.

Presumably each dose of gas needs to be (relatively) impurity free for the desired results.

So how do you paint your balls the desired colour & what are you using for a pool stick?

//Blow up stars and send signals with them//

How can we know that this isn't baked by some past mega-intelligent race?

Because he's been too busy hanging around here, complaining about cats and Welshmen.

/Amanda Tapping/ was fun to watch.

Jacob: Come on, Sam. It can't be any harder than blowing up a sun.

Sam: You know, you blow up one sun and suddenly everyone expects you to walk on water.

       (alien control panel lights up)

Sam: Next step, parting the Red Sea!

The first time we do this the message should be:
