Electric Elbow Grease

Scrubbing a toilet can be a little more fun

Today I found myself facing a toilet that had been accumulating crud for a significant period of time. None of the usual toilet-bowl cleaning chemicals seemed to have any effect at all, on dislodging the crud from the porcelain. A scrub brush did work, but slowly. So, Idea!

It happened that this particular toilet-bowl scrub brush had a straight round handle, and the brush itself was largely spherical in its construction/bristly- ness. I got out my electric drill and used its chuck to hold the brush handle like a drill bit. The variable-speed drill can now spin the brush at up-to a couple thousand RPM. Some time later, after a fair amount of crud had been removed from the toilet bowl, I decided to take some time to post this. And now, back to applying Electric Elbow Grease to a traditional dirty job...with something of a grin on my face.

[bigsleep], actually, the lip the bowl is keeping that from happening. Otherwise I wouldn't be grinning.

Would a hammer drill have been even more effective?

You can usually rent jack-hammers at the local tool rental shop.

Can we not just pack loads of loose bristles around a modestly sized explosive charge?
pocmloc, Jul 07 2015

That is theoretically possible, although we have serious issues with "modestly sized" ...

Probably this Idea should have been named "Electric Toilet Brush" (we could certainly imagine motorized brushes getting sold), but I like the current name better.

Err, that grin on your face has brown speckles.

If it came with a disposable biodegradable one-size-fits-all seal this would sell.

You've never met my father in law...

I simply love the title. So +
