Fledgeling cuckoos have been known to toss eggs out of the nest in which they have taken up residence, and this is the principle behind the new Eggsmade Breakfast Clock.
Here's how it works:
You simply set the alarm time on the clock; fill the small pot with water; place a fresh egg at the feet
of the mechanical cuckoo; set the egg cooking time (soft, medium, hard) then got to sleep.
In the morning, the following sequence occurs: the alarm rings; the cuckoo swivels and pushes the egg out of the nest, allowing it to descend the short distance into the pot of water, where it is quickly brought to a boil, and simmers for the preset time.
Just in case you have slept through all this, the cuckoo makes a frantic crowing sound to ensure you actually get up and enjoy your nicely boiled egg.
