This is a better resolved version of a
previous posting, hurriedly deleted.
In order to protect delicate, valuable
items
from damage in transit, many of us use
bubble wrap, polystyrene or similar
material, which is thrown away at our
destination. This is costly, wasteful and
potentially
harmful to the environment.
I suggest filling liquid-proofed edible
boxes (thick rice paper?) with delicious,
sweet, though necessarily highly viscous,
gelatinous, long-life milk based fruit
mousse. This not only protects the
contents, but will provide those moving
with a nutritious, healthy dish to
replenish
the energy expended during the moving
process, when the cases are un packed
on
arrival.
Moreover, the mousse could be used as
an
'icebreaker' to introduce yourself to your
new neighbours.
The possiblities are endless - any
manner
of fruit would be suitable, as would
chocolate, coffee, even savories like pate,
mince or smoked salmon.
Clearly the delicate items will need a little
cleaning on arrival, but this only serves
to
ensure that they will be pristinely clean
from your very first day of residence.
Any excess mousse could easily be
frozen
and eaten at a later date.

All the rats and mice will move to live in your storage depots and distribution centres - and very comfy they will be too! Perhaps after nibbling into an edible box, and munching on the tasty mousse inside, they will all take a nap, get delivered by accident, and your customers will open their parcels to find that their box is a satiated mouse-filled packing case. |

As long as the shock absorbing qualities of mousse and mouse are the same, your goods should still arrive intact. |

Hopefully the shipping industry steps up their game before this hits the mainstream. I'd be a little bit worried about that sweet, milk-based goo going off before I have a chance to eat it. |
