Drop Down Smoke Alarm Silencing Button

Cable with a reset button at the bottom drops from alarm when it's set off. Push it to silence it.

When you've hit the reset button, it retracts into the unit. Have it be maybe 2 or 3 feet long so you don't need a ladder.

Could also have it double as a battery warning indicator, drops down when the battery's dead. Maybe even have it lower the battery so you never need to get on a ladder.

You could have it shoot the dead battery at your head as you walk by so you don't forget to change it.

       Yes I was imagining a unit that you throw at the ceiling to install, it would have spikes or somehting that grabbed into the ceiling, but when it went off or the battery needed changed it would let go and drop to the floor. You press the button and chuck it back up. But that all distracts from the true genius of this idea so [+]
