Semi solid drag-enducing barriers for motorcycle racers. If you've ever seen a spirited MotoGP Race and seen the pros - the guys that get paid the BIG bucks - crash, you can plainly see its a one-way rollercoaster ride of defeat until:
A.) You are stopped by something solid
B.) You slide
to a stop
C.) Or you otherwise tumble, skip, flop, etc. into another racer
Either way, injury is unavoidable, but complications can be kept to a minimum if there is some sort of outside force slowing racer and machine. That slowing force is Drag Jelly. Specially formulated to gradually slow 400+ lbs of man and machine in the event of a bail. Piled roughly 4 feet high, and having the consistency of jam, the Jelly is biodegradable, and can be placed in strategic locations on a race track prone to mishaps.
Since the death of Daijiro Kato, indeed one of MotoGP's finest, racers and sponsors alike have been looking for greater saftey measures on the roadracing circuits worldwide. As a less rigid alternative to water barriers, this would take more time to clean off of man and machine, but help safely control the path of a sliding racer.
Flavors grape, lemon, strawberry, butter pecan and custard flavors available soon!

I was trying to avoid the custard cliché ... but yeah, its the same premise |
|
|
hey you missed raspberry. not too sure that walloping into jelly would be the soft option you want but I like! |
|
|
Sorry, its a little early for me to try and word something ... a moderately tall jelly barrier that slows you down ... better than hitting a wall, and you can spread it on toast ... I know I'm not connecting my ideas well (or at all) today ... |

W/C/Sh-oulda been a sure winner. |

Nah, what you need here is the anti-custard. Relatively fluid at high forces and solid at slower speeds. |

//Does this make sense to anyone?// |

Why wouldn't it? It's pretty simple. Jam-on the walls of the course. Stop people from getting really badly injured when they run into the wall. Get it? |

|
At the time of authoring this idea I could only think of one drawback ... having to wash-off after a crash ... you'd be sticky, but you'd also be delicious! |

Hmm...I'm going to make the obligatory sexist reference about the sponsor girls.....now. |

On-topic, I like it. NASCAR, the IRL, and CART have all been working on "SAFE barriers," which are basically concrete panels on springs, but I think I like your idea better. It is, at the very least, a way to prop up declining gelatin sales. |
