New from BorgCo, a solar-powered camera that can be detached from its carrier drone by remote command.

Fly the drone to the desired camera vantage point and land it, ensuring that the field of view of the camera covers the target area. The camera then releases, and the drone flies off.

Now, sit back and enjoy the stream of real-time HD images, or if you're worried about the RF emissions, just record to an onboard flash drive. The photovoltaic panel will keep the camera operating for prolonged periods, given enough ambient light - since the point of placement is likely to be high up, shadowing shouldn't be a factor.

A selection of covers, to disguise the camera unit in different environments and reduce the chance of detection, are available for a small extra cost.

When the task is complete, fly the drone back and collect the camera - there are suitable indexing sensors to guarantee accurate docking.

The deluxe version has 4k stereoscopic vision, and a few other tricks which are still under development.

We've told you before, [8th], stay away from the school.

Damn them and their exclusion orders ... it was just a bit of fun, we were only using blanks.

The return automatic fire was a bit disconcerting though, particularly from a kindergarten...

That was probably the Intercalary. His turf.

"A selection of covers, to disguise the camera unit" A frisbee would work well. also a drone that launches frisbees then catches them would automate recreation and not look out of place at a beach.

Nice one, [beany] - we take back a very small proportion of the things we've said about you.

A Frisbee, a deflated football, a sports shoe or a broken model aircraft could all hide in plain sight most effectively; even, for extra irony, a smashed-up drone.

That, for once, is quality thinking. Respect ...

If the camera's were cheap ....splat. Recover SD card.

I had, coincidentally, thought of pretty much the same idea a few weeks ago, but didn't think of posting it, because I assumed it was already in use by various militaries.
