Grit-free coffee

Even a good burr grinder can sometimes leave small particles of coffee that slip through the screen of my French press, giving the coffee a bit of a grainy texture or an over-brewed flavor. Proposed is a coffee maker that uses diatomaceous earth to filter out the ground coffee, just as a pool filter does. This would produce extremely clear coffee with no paper taste, and the filter would be back-flushable.

I wonder which components of the coffee would make it through a carbon filter? You could simply use an absolute aperture filter like those used for filtering drinking water - they come in different sizes and you could play around until you found the right size.

Ah yes, the old No.4 Coffee Machine. Gotta backflush every 3k gallons or so, of course.

       Instant granules are pretty grit-free

Better than a DG coffee filter.

Depleted uranium. I like mine with a bit of zing.
