Many meetings these days use overhead projectors to project fancy slide shows on a big screen. However, when a lively discussion starts things get difficult. People in the audience start yelling things like "That screw up there caused the crash. ...... No, not that one, the one next to the widget valve!". After a few minutes the speaker is utterly confused and things go downhill. Only the most advanced conference rooms offer the technology to give everyone in the audience the ability to point at something on the screen.

A low cost solution to this problem could be pointer lasers with a customized mask. It would be the same technology that allows people to project "I love you" on a wall with a $10 key-ring laser, but the projected image would be for example the initials like "JD>" (">" stands for an arrow). Now Jutta can clearly point out why the mail server crashed, while HM> can trace out the nitrogen cycle. Both get full credit for their contributions because the pointer shows who talks.

Laser would typically be distributed as gifts (most favored customer, employee of the quarter, ...) or by just plain order-yourself by those who don’t even have salespeople as friends.
