       Possible answer to your question: they are not conductive enough. Modern electronic gadgets with touchscreen only need to handle milliwatts of power; microwave ovens routinely employ hundreds of watts of power.

       There's a patent for microwave glasses that have two transparent conductive films, spaced 1/4 wavelength apart.
