Have a website where people can band together to support any lawsuit where the plaintiff or defendant do not have enough money and want to appeal to the crowd.

You could make it so that on successful case, you get a badge or shirt. "I crowdfunded a lawsuit against a guy and all I got was a T-shirt". Or a personal video message of appreciation if your pledge is high enough.

e.g. Business screw over an independent developer, but the developer doesn't have enough money to fight back.

I think that this is a fine idea. A crowd-funded law suit would be far more intimidating to corporate or government entities since any publicity would only serve to increase revenue for the case against them.

Yes. I like this very much.

I think one flaw with this idea is that crows are often short of cash.

Not necessarily. Many corvids are attracted by shiny objects, and some species - particularly magpies - are notorious for stealing such items and taking them back to their nests.

Well, you could just sic the crows on them until they give up. At which point the litigant in question would whisper "nevermore"..

How is this different from class action? I think you'd find that in any area where there's enough interest to crowd fund, there's enough interest to create a class action

To be involved in a class action, isn't it necessary to have a direct interest in the case ?

Who pays for a class action law suit?

       typically the lawyers
