Some people vote "Yes" to everything they see. Having that person vote for you shouldn't generate as much of a croissant as a Yes from a person who almost always votes No or Neutral.
The HalfBakery can simply tabulate each member's voting record (# of yeses, abstains*, and no's), and use this to assign
a "significance" to each type of vote that person supplies.
(* abstain = visiting a page and leaving it after an obvious pause to read it, without voting)
The significance would be capped at 2. A standard person who votes Yes and No in equal frequencies would supply 1 Croissant for a Yes and 1 Fish for a No. That's like what we have now. But a really mean viewer who votes 99% No and only 1% Yes would supply 2 Croissants for a Yes, and nothing at all for a No. In fact, even if he abstains, this should count as a croissant, from such a nasty viewer.
Similarly, an overfriendly person who can't bear to criticize anyone, even anonymously, will end up doing just that. His Yes votes will be discounted, and his Neutral or Abstains will count as partial fish.
Worth1000 voting scheme

See Worth100.com for a truly aggressive vote evaluation scheme - you get points for voting (making your votes count for more), but they are deducted heavily if your voting diverges too much from the herd. More trouble than it's worth for straight up/down voting, I think. |

So, what does a fishbone from a grumpy person count? |
|
|
Im extremely happy at the moment just pummeled someone in court, and I was the Defendant. Fishbone. Fishbone significance? |
|

Congratulations, Shz - I've done that as well, to the extent that the Judge asked if I wanted the Plaintiff jailed - immediately. I declined, as the plaintiff was the mother of my child. She, the Judge, was disappointed. DrCurry is right about Worth1000 - great site, too. |

inclined to agree with the sentiment expressed in this posting, but would extend from grumpy people and include intelligent bakers. |
|
|
Fair to say that if I receive croissant and +ve comments from certain bakers, I know that the idea has genuine credibility. Names withheld to preserve blushes. |

This would eliminate the Autoboner. |

As well as the Tooth Fairy, Santa, and the Easter Bunny. |

//A standard person who votes Yes and No in equal frequencies //
Do they? Really? Got any evidence for that assertion? |
