Construction Toy Adaptor Set

Adaptors between different styles of construction toys

When I was a kid I was a big fan of construction toys, I had a Lego set, Tinkertoys and Toggle (now extinct) blocks, and my friends had Lincoln logs and Erector sets. Inevitably a kid with one construction set had more than one...

So how can such a kid square his/her fun? Or even cube it? The Construction Toy Adaptor Set (CTAS)!

Some CTAS kits are Lego blocks with Tinkertoy-gauge holes & pegs sprouting from the sides. Other kits contain Tinkertoy nodes with Lincoln log slots, or even Lego blocks with Erector set screw holes.

Every new adaptor increases your building combinations geometrically... Pour all of your kid's construction toys into one can, 'cause now it's all one thing!

(Thanks to any commentators who can think of more construction toys and how they would connect.)

Two words "liscensing nightmare". Every piece would be worth it's weight in legal gold.

Sorry for the buzzkill. I love the idea and it pains me that it would not be possible :'( .

This sort of thing makes me wish for a revolution in intelectual property laws.

What if someone with and old plastic injection machine just made them and gave them away for free . All donations welcome .

Surely the shapes to grip , say a lego protrusion , would be numerous . No mister lawyer, It has nothing to do with lego .

There is always another way .

Are you suggesting that a Digger-like free underground product that could not advertise or identify its features is an alternative to reforming intelectual propery laws? Why not go and shake my liliputian fist at some pointless protest against the WTO or other fruitless enterprise. Make homebaked alternatives, sure! Make actual change? Damn right.
