Conductive Adhesive Tape

Heart palpitation fighting tape.

I always wondered why Bonaparte is shown with one hand inside his jacket.

I get heart palpitations once in a great while. I find that placing my sweaty right hand over my heart makes it go away almost instantly. Salty sweat conducts electricity pretty well. I think it grounds the screwed up electrical signal that is causing the problem.

A bit of conductive tape or some conductive spray paint could do the same thing. And I wouldn't have to stand around half dressed looking like Napoleon Bonaparte.

Chances are this only works on certain fat old guys, so I have no idea if there is any possibility of a market for such a product.

( Now that I see the picture it looks like the hand is on his stomach. sigh! Still a mystery.)

Conductive tape is WKTE. [MechE, Aug 08 2014]

I don't think it will do anything for heart palpitations, but conductive adhesive tape is [Marked-For- Deletion] WKTE.

       And see a doctor.

Also, the hand-in-coat was apparently a common portraiture pose for a century or so prior to Napoleon.

//placing my sweaty right hand over my heart makes it go away almost instantly// That is interesting. What we need is a cardiologist to tell us if it makes sense.

That would be informative, but it would be more fun* to subject [pop] to an escalating series of painful electric shocks applied to different areas of the anatomy and see what effect that had on heart rate and other parameters.

       * fun for the observers, not for the subject. The reason that many medical diagnostic procedures appear to be pointlessly cruel, painful and humiliating is simple; the majority of medical professionals (and even more so for medical amateurs) are closet** sadists.

** so called because when they can't get living victims, they work out their frustrations on furniture.

Well if the conductive tape exists, then the next step is a conductive tape that doesn't take all the body hair with it when pulled off. Maybe a conductive adhesive similar to that on post it notes.

( have seen the Doc, don't worry about it.)

When I first saw the title, I thought it may have been for adrenaline extreme electricians.

//Maybe a conductive adhesive similar to that on post it notes.// You mean, like the conductive gel pads that they use for cardiograms and various other applications and which are well known to exist?

Re. Napoleon - few people know that had a wooden left leg, and a wooden right foot. For functional reasons, his wooden right foot was made in such a way that it left him 4" shorter than he would otherwise have been; his wooden left leg was made short to match. Before the accidents, he was actually 5' 11" - quite tall for a man of that era.

Also, re palpitations and conductive media - there is a population in Quebec (near Lake Mistassini) who share an hereditary heart problem which causes mild fibrillations and fainting.

Interestingly, these people (who all have a common ancestor) deal with this by placing their left hands on their left breast if they feel an attack coming on. If they go ahead and actually faint, people in their community know to place their (the victim's) left hand on their left breast, which allegedly causes them to revive.

I once thought about driving through Lake Miss tass inni. Caused a sweat, but no palps. Might be related to the abandoned charcoal burners in the family history.

Gee it's fun write if you don't have a clue what your saying.

Open an alternative medicine website, and tell people who lost their limbs that you can fix it with a little bit of masking tape and spit. Call it "The Natural Stitch Theory". You'll be rich in no time, and don't worry, you'll be making even more money when they sue you.
