Coffee Smasher

When your NRA club has a gathering, using a traditional burr or blade grinder to make the grounds for coffee just won't do. Instead, the guests will be impressed when you pulverize the beans by smashing them together at high velocity. This Coffee Smasher consists of two high powered air rifles aimed directly at one another, and positioned such that the pair of simultaneously shot coffee beans collide inside a clear polycarbonate sphere. Pull the trigger quickly to demonstrate individual shots, or hold it longer to fire bursts. Once sufficient coffee powder has been produced, open the sphere and use the badger hair duster to brush it into the coffee maker.

(This idea is the hasty re-writing of a quickly deleted Coffee Bean Accelerator idea that turned out to have been previously thunk.)

A great use for the soon-to-be-retired Fermilab.

That this is not available in a single mug-shot is grounds for refusion.

Adjust the muzzle velocities so that the heat of impact flash roasts the produced particles. Careful adjustment would provide graduated degrees of roast. For entertainment purposes, very high velocities should produce ignition of the powder resulting in explosions that would appeal to the NRA crowd. <link>

Bunsen, you forgot the two-cups smasher. As a matter of fact, Fermilab might solve our two-cups of the same coffee philosophical debate...
