Code Number Bumper Stickers

Bumper stickers that enable strangers to call each other on their cell phones while in traffic.

This would be a service that people would subscribe to.

The service company would produce bumper stickers that would each have a unique code on them that people would stick on their cars.

There would be one toll free number to call that would connect the caller to the cell phone (or any phone) that is registered to the unique code on the sticker.

This way, people stuck in traffic could have somebody close by to talk to. Because the system would use unique codes, privacy would be maintained as well. Also, the person receiving the call would know it was coming from the "sticker service" so they could decide whether to answer.

You could also use license plate numbers instead of stickers.

"I Promise" program http://www.ipromise...ram.com/program.htm
Not quite the same, but involves a decal on the car and a toll-free number to report drivers. [Klaatu, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

Then all those people who talk instead of driving could crash into each other....a Darwinian kind of cellular technology...cool.

i'd subscribe so i could complain to them about their driving.

Make it automated. If you subscribe to that service your car detetcs the code on the car ahead/behind you (which also subscribed) and lets you talk hands free.

I really prefer not to talk to other drivers in traffic [-], but I would assume that many young people would use this to set up dates, make drug deals, etc. [+]
