You go to sleep on a big mattressy clock-face, close to the number of the hour at which you want to wake up. Every hour, the giant minute hand sweeps harmlessly over your sleeping body. When the hour comes for you to wake up, the slowly moving hour hand insistently pushes you out of bed.

A clever idea and all, but what if you need/want to sleep for more than 12 hours?

I think you'd need two of these beds, in that case.
