Chimney Scope

Chimney Stack with built in telescope

More and more houses (primarily UK) are being built with three floors in order to maximise land use. These new houses are different to traditional buildings, because they are not built with an open fireplace and therefore do not have chimney stacks.

Install a replica chimney stack that houses a motorised digital telescope. Because the stack is positioned higher than the street lights, you would get a lovely view on a clear night. And also chimney stacks are much nicer to look at than aluminium pipes!

Link the Chimney Scope to the TV/Projector in your living room and voila! Astronomy from the comfort of your own armchair. Being motorised you could program it to follow constellations, the moon or even look into the fit chicks bedroom across the bay! Sweet! Like chocolate!

Well, really you don't need the GPS models since this is a fixed installation. You just need one with a motor drive that an be fitted with a CCD camera. Wander to the other models on that site.

Whats a CCD camera? I can't find any info about that.

Very nice, [grippit] - I need to apply for credit, though. Or sell a kidney.

CCD= Charged couple device. Plain old digital camera (video, if you like).

ok, I must admit. you idea stunt me. so you want to watch the moon on tv.. why? anyway, if you think in terms of design, a telescope on top of a chimney stack is kindda` excentric. oh, and I almost forgot - you don't need a chimney stack for the telescope, since you said you'd link it to the home cinema: you only need a few wires from the roof to the ground floor, and a few wires don't need a whole chimeny stack. actually, the telescope doesn't have anything to do with the chimeny stack.. how did you come up with that ?
