Cast a vote that periodically changes, automatically. Kinda like a computer virus. One day, it might be a [+]. Another day, it might be a [-]. Another day it might seem not to be there at all. Mess with their minds!!! Muwahahahahaha!
The change (with only a single Chaos Vote cast) would work like
this:
Say you're viewing the idea and looking at the vote count. For the purposes of this explanation, let's assume that nobody is casting or changing votes right now. The vote count is +5, -6. A few minutes later, you check it again, and it's +4, -7 or +4, -6. If only one of the votes is a Chaos Vote, and nobody else votes on the idea or changes their vote, then it will fluctuate between those 3 ratios, at random times. Sometimes it may go days or weeks without fluctuating. Other times, it may fluctuate several times in a 10-second period. Now, imagine that all 11 votes that have currently been cast for this idea were Chaos Votes, and each one fluctuated at it's own random rate, on its own random timetable, completely independent of the others. If you watched the vote display long enough, you could, in theory, watch the icon morph from 2.5 fishbones to 2 full buns in the span of a minute. Then immediately morph to something else entirely. How maddening would that be to some of the prima donnas we get here? How poetic would the justice be, and how befitting the fickle nature of the Halfbakery?

You mean Butters from South Park? |
|
|
Wow mine was a [+] and then it slowly morphed
into a [-] Go figure. Maybe it'll go back to a [+]
later today. Perhaps you should sit here and
watch to be sure. |

I've used Chaotic Vote for this idea. It's just that the mean value of pastry to bone is a neutral. |
|
|
There's no need to be mean. My neutral vote here is purely medial. |

whose minds? I don't mind...[-]
.......how long to wait to see it change? |

//§ < Does anyone even know what this symbol means?// referring to section in document. e.g. ...such conditions as stipulated in §§ 1 - 3. Reads "...such conditions as stipulated in section 1, section 2, section 3, inclusive". |

//how long to wait to see it change?//

Depends on how many other Chaos Votes have been cast. The more that are cast by mulitple users, the faster they all change. |

Although changing the rate of changing depending on the amount of votes cast might seem more chaotic, mathematically it should be the same as if only one choatic vote had been cast.

The real answer to how long till it changes, is a piece of string this <denotes length with hands> colour. |
|
|
Unless of course you are talking not of the particular votes but rather the bun to bone ratio. Which rather remarkably would stay relatively neutral most of the time. |

A bit of randomness reported into the stock market news would be a good thing. Too much information in too many hands creating market stampedes is a bad thing. |

Edit: That's really good... I'm adding it to the post! |

Only a self-obsessed clique of wasters would care about this idea one way or the other... oh, wait... [+] |
