Old habits die hard

As more and more of us cut the cord, use Alexa, Roku, Netflix, Samsung etc to discover video content, we're introduced to beautiful online catalogs with still and moving previews and a wealth of search options, often even with voice.

Oi. Can I just have a way to surf through all the possibilities in a continuous cycle? This way is actually pretty annoying for someone who is used to surf through 55 channels and nothing on.

Isn't RSS is what's meant to integrate various streams of posts.. video or not.

With RSS you generally still read one whole post (or as much of it as you're ever going to) before going on to the next one. I think what's wanted is more like opening a bunch of YouTube videos in tabs, starting them all playing, and then switching between tabs while they play (but with the browser configured to mute all tabs except the currently active one).

to be clear, we're not really talking about surfing on a computer.

I'm talking about lacking a channel surfing experience on one of the new TVs that are driven not by a cable remote, but by a "smart" remote that's integrated into Roku, Amazon, Samsung, Netflix etc. They tend to be catalog exploration remotes, but don't have a surfing feature

Yes, but I think the method I suggested would have a similar experience, and clarifying that was all I suggested it for.

Put some clothes on, or even just wear a towel ... we dob't want any more information about your personal lifestyle choices.

A truly programmable and learning universal remote might be go if one can be found. One could be built.
