Change "Hear hear!" to "Hear here!"

Makes more sense, and you'll never need to ask yourself again "Is it Hear hear or here here?".

"Hear hear" (the correct wording) is based on "Hear all ye who... (bla bla old timey bla bla)" which nobody ever says any more. It's dumb and confusing, however, it is a classic, like groundhog day, which is also dumb and confusing, but we cherish it anyway. Or put up with it at least.

So we've all woken up at 2 in the morning with the question in our mind "Is it hear hear or here here?"

Well, now the confusion is gone, because this new incarnation of the classic agreement shout says something that makes sense. "Hear here!" says: "I hear you over here", or "There is agreement coming from the location that this annoying shout is emanating from."

All you have to do it spell it this way, and pedantic basement dwellers, locked and loaded to justify their pathetic existence by correcting you, will see that you didn't even make an attempt to make the choice, yell at their mom to buy more Cheetos, lose interest and switch to a furry porn site.

And victory will be yours.

       // Heer heer //

       Actually, "Heer" is the German for the armed forces <link>.

       Thus on defeating an enemy and occupying territory, such forces could reasonably send a report "Heer hier !" ...

       A thing about this is it's already true.

       And groundhog day makes sense in its proper climate and with hedgehogs instead.
tatterdemalion, Apr 06 2020

       Since hedgehogs are nocturnal, "Hedgehog Day" will be problematic to implement.

       Romans used moon shadows. Expand your mind.
tatterdemalion, Apr 06 2020

       We prefer to expand the minds of others. We have a special tool for that exact task. We modified it from one of the drilling machines used to put the finger holes in bowling balls. It works ... acceptably well.

       Ah ... you probably should have mentioned that earlier.

       You have already been told. There is nothing wrong with your thoughts, or what you think you are seeing. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur, or sharpen it to crystal clarity. Sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear.

       Forever.
