The fluid at the top of the tube was a thin, tannish substance. The middle third appeared relatively normal. But the bottom third appeared a good substitute for vantablack.

After drinking the bottom third, I could almost visualize the individual molecules as they raced around the next pot.

       This has been discussed here before. I believe the esteemed [mb] mentioned the possibility of trying it at work.

       I did, in fact, try it, and can report success. A large single espresso can be made quite successfully in a 50ml centrifuge tube.
MaxwellBuchanan, Sep 12 2017

       I can't quite visualise how this works - can you describe the experimental set-up?
hippo, Sep 12 2017

       Put espresso coffee grounds in 50ml tube, add water, microwave to brew. Then spin, drink supernatant.

       // drink //

       That's a bit crude, isn't it ? Are you too idle to put up an IV ?

       Not being borg, we don't typically maintain open IV ports, despite the obvious advantages.

       // borg //

       Sp. "Borg".

       Someone is asking for a slap.

       Coffee snobs are very keen to pay a lot of money for esoteric coffee-brewing equipment. I'm sure you could make a lot of money selling lab bench centrifuges rebadged as coffee makers.
hippo, Sep 12 2017

       Unfortunately scientists are also willing to pay a lot of money for basic lab equipment, so the rebadging is unlikely to be lucrative.

       On the other hand, rebadging a regular domestic freezer as a "scientific" freezer allows you to increase the price about five-fold. I shit you not.

       So, a combination of a Paradoxurus hermaphroditus, a percolator, and a centrifuge ?

       If borg is a collective hegemonic swarm, then a lower-case is perfectly appropriate.
RayfordSteele, Sep 12 2017

       Isn't the Borg an ethnic group of ethnicities? and must be capitalised.

       Iran might make better coffee for all of us. How they control their new coffee ability, is something all countries will probably have to go through in the future.

       You wouldn't capitalize a herd of cattle, would you? Or a mischief of rats?
RayfordSteele, Sep 13 2017

       That's more due to mankind's superiority complex. Probably the Mice or the Dolphins.

       Well, have the b(B)org chosen to assimilate any of them?
