Cell-Fax

Like Car-Fax, but for your phone.

If you've ever had a cellphone replaced, either through warranty or insurance, it was probably a refurbished phone, which exactly like a factory-restored, used car. And they're about as reliable as a used car. You've got a 50/50 chance that it'll work great or work like shit. I don't care what the company says, the phone's prior use has got to have some effect on how reliable it is after refurbishment.

So what I want is a service that documents every service call and complaint made for each phone, tracked by the IMEI number so if you get a refurb you can check out its history. Find out if was dropped in a toilet, find out if it was thrown against a wall. Just like getting a used car, check your facts. Cell-Fax.

Don't think you need to have had the equivalent of a car wreck to build up serious future problems with a cellphone ... by the time I've got through 18 months, mine have already pretty much given up the ghost.
