Build a robot which walks on the ceiling using suction cups, whilst vacuuming.
The legs should have enough degrees of mechanical freedom that it can walk from ceiling to wall and back; especially importantly, it should be able to go through doorways that don't reach all the way up to the ceiling.
In
case it's not obvious, the name comes from ceiling + roomba.

I don't know about cleaning but painting would be ace! |

Just how often do you need to clean you ceiling? So far in my life I have done it 0 times, and if I did I would have thought a rag on a stick would be OK, not a very complicated electromechanical device. So [-]. |

I just don't know where to store all these robots when they are not at work. (I need a robot garage!) |

89tortoise, I've never cleaned my ceiling either, but wouldn't it be cool to have a robot that could? |
|

Actually, just having a robot which can walk on the ceiling seems pretty cool by itself. It might be even better, if the robot had eight legs, and a red and blue spider-man coloration :) |

Technically since all ceilings needs usually is a dusting to remove cobwebs, this is baked by those aircars that race on walls. I'll have to find a link, but someone sells cars that have a reverse hovercraft bottom so the fan holds then to the wall. I would think it would do the same for a ceiling and then all you have to do is lay down, look up and drive it around a little. I guess it isn't autonomous and wouldn't work with textured celings, but bound to be more fun. I guess ideally, )&-.d want something with twin 90 degree angled surfaces so you could stick it to a wall and then drive it to the ceiling and around. |

All the dust and spider skins will fall right down into your eyes. Then while you're rubbing your eyes in pain, the aircar falls into your lap, blades spinning. This is why I always wear goggles. Also a titanium codpiece. |

Maybe the suction from the vacuum alone would keep it up there. Probably worth a try. |

Is there an echo in here? |

Paint your ceiling with some of that magnetic
paint. That will open the options for your robot . |
