This contraption works a lot like a washing machine. Put the cat in the enclosed tub that has a rubber lined hole to fit his head through. Put the device in your bath tub, hook hose to faucet, and put another hose in the drain...add cat shampoo to dispenser. Run water and allow tub to fill, after filling
to desired level the tub will automatically start it's cycle. Soft bristles will rotate creating a lather, tub will drain...then rinse cycle begins. When rinse cycle is complete the air dryer will begin.
It is an easy, gentle way to bath your kitty.

'Fraid we just did this one a month or two ago - see link. |

This is a little different...no hands required. |

I have two cats, they spend most of the day washing themselves with no help from us, would this work with Dogs, even better Guinea Pigs. |
It would work with any domestic animal the size of a bread box. Of course, we could possibly make it larger or smaller...or add levels inside it to shorten the basin. |
Even domesticated beavers. |
Only if they are not too hairy. |
So what you are saying is that it would work well with a shaved beaver, the soft bristles wouldn't irritate the skin? what about those hairless cats as well, like Bigglesworth. |

Good idea, if your cat is too big for the washer, just trim off the excess limbs with a sharp knife ..... |
I don't think my cats will like this treatment. Since they are equiped with a rather good memory I foresee problems when i try to get them in the contraption for the second time. Remember the times when they need to go to the vet? They hate the transport-box and put up a good fight. |

[df] Why wash a cat anyway? Cats usually smell like a dry-cleaned blanket. |
[Spekkie], Makes the fur go all cute and fwuffy. And exposed human skin go all scratched and bleedy. |
The box could open in half so the cat can be scooped up while napping, then you wouldn't risk collateral damage associated with trying to force the poor unfortunate through a small aperture. |
The only drawback I can see then is this rubber lined hole idea. If the cat can get its head out, the body will surely follow. Esp. when soaped up. |
I just tried this idea with a cardboard box (not washing, just cat fitting)...Nietzsche could not get anything other than his head through. I am sure with kittens that would be a different story, but some kind of brace may be needed. Perhaps something like a cat harness with a very short leash. BTW: the soft bristles would be alot like that of a brush for a baby's head. I don't think that it would irritate as it would not necessarily have to touch the cat's body. The bristles would be there to lather the soap and water. I made them soft for when they actually do touch the cat. |

We had to wash Spangles after she dipped her tail in the paint when we were decorating the bathroom, and she wasn't too happy at the process, but Gomez doesn't seem to mind when Mrs angel has to wash porridge out of his fur after an enthusiastic breakfast. Dempsey's too fat to fit into a box, no matter how big. |
She, actually. To be honest, she's not that big, but with a small head and paws, and a kitten-looking tail, the fatness of the rest of her makes her look enormous. |
After Jack Dempsey, the boxer. As a tiny kitten, she was forever smacking the hell out of the rest of the litter. I've just seen Milo on the half-baked calendar; Dempsey's much more rotund than him, though smaller overall. I'll put some photographs up somewhere. |

Why? Do they shrink? (courtesy Snappy Comeback Flashcards) |
In my house, they not only wash themselves, they also wash each other. |
Box? Brace? Harness? Is this cat bathing or cat torture? |
I had to wash my cat Hendrix, after she fell into 5 gallons of half fermented home brew. So I had to wash her in the shower, she died a week later. I don't know if it was alcoholic poisoning or pneumonia. |

Dare I say it? I believe there is conspiracy in the bakery. |
I'm more interested in everyones cats names, how do you call your cat over by the name of Nietzche ? and do you call the dog Fredrich ? the goldfish Heidegger, the badger Barret, the parrot Walter Kaufmann , the beaver Wilhelm ? |

[DrFowler], the whole Bakery IS a conspiracy ..... |
Micky - what happened to the home brew? |
2 reasons for the name Nietzsche:
1) he sleeps with one paw curled up under his chin, reminding me of the "thinker".
2) Nietzsche the philosopher coined the phrase, "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger"...he was a very very sick kitty, but he survived! |
I do call him over by Nietzsche, and he knows his name very well. I do have fish named Algernon and Cecily (from "The Importance of Being Ernest"). I had a cat named Yanna (died from cancer). And in high school I had 2 chihuahua's that I named Hans and Frans, but my parents hated them so I had to give them to a family friend...and a cat I named "Noa", it is hawaiian for "noisy" (she meowed ALL THE TIME). |
I do try to be a little creative with pet names. |
thumbwax - Well, apart from the occasional hair, it tasted quite good actually. |
I think putting a cat inside a heshin sack and throwing it off a bridge would do about the same. |
//[DrFowler], the whole Bakery IS a conspiracy .....// |
No, the wholebakery is a figment of an overactive imagination. Perhaps medication and insitutionalization would have helped [DrFowler] get through this. |
EDIT: Wow, why did I post that? |
Proud to give this idea its only bun. |
