It's just like a regular treadmill, except the tread belt is made of padded carpet.

For those who hate walking on hard surfaces, the carpet treadmill is designed to work without shoes, providing support and comfort with every step.

My home treadmill is carpeted. Well, it's more of a spongy black foam, but it's soft. It's nice to jog without having to wear shoes.
