i hate snow on my car. but ever notice after driving your car and pulling it into the driveway while its snowing, an hour later there is no snow on your car?! locate a small snow sensor near car hood or window, connected to the car's computer. the sensor triggers the ignition to start the engine and
keep it running for, say, about 10 minutes. if it continues to snow, it triggers again. the triggering could also actuate the car locks, alarm, etc., if needed. concerned about gas? -- well when it snows outside its relatively warm, so you probably expend much energy anyways getting rid of the snow and ice by warming up the car later when it reaches 0 degrees.

Why don't you just imbed some high resistance wiring into the body of the car, and have that respond to your snow sensor? Hell, I'm not even sure that would work, but turning your car on and off all the damn time is NOT a good idea, sorry. |

[Daseva] For a few weeks in the deepest of winter turning your car on and off a handful of times in a row won't do much, esspecially if programmed not to do this between midnight and 6 a.m. Since we wouldnt be driving those hours in the snow anyway. The beauty of this idea is that it is retrofittable to almost any car ever, and certainly cheaper and more implementable than the coil idea you suggested. |

Ah, the wonders of advertising. Wait,
what? |
|

Exists, but not with a "snow sensor." In the cold depths of Alaska, products are in use which monitor the engine block temperature. Once the temperature drops below a certain set limit, the engine automatically starts and warms up to a pre-set temperature. |

You know you can actually put this idea in //Car: Snow//, right? |

Aw, c'mon, "business: advertising" is so much more surreal. |

[DrCurry] laugh-out-loud. Ah, I'm glad I
found this place. |

[contracts] I thought they used plug in block heaters? |

Yeah, good point Blumster... I was just getting off a bender when I wrote that, if there's any consolation in your knowledge of such things... |

Surreal categorization is so April. |
