A set of loud external speakers.
Switches on the dashboard which trigger big hot rod engine sampled sounds:
1. Revving at the lights.
2. Doppler effect passing.
3. Screeching tyre pull away.
4. Locked brakes.

For idiots to sound like idiots with more money/mechanical ability!

the desire for the artificial over the real, that the enjoyment of having the genuine article can be simulated, or that a mockery of camouflage could fool others into believing that you posses the genuine article is ludicrous. Not even the hardened poseur would enjoy such a faker for long. Imagine if you would two such cars pulling up beside one another both emitting a low fidelity imitation of qualities that both lack, the tumult rising, finally the crescendo of screeching tires as both cars amble away at a snail's pace. ITS HORRIBLE BULLSHIT. On the other hand nobody has ever lost money underestimating the taste and sensibilities of this target market. You might make money but the devil will take your soul to a hell or fake things and force you to make love to a cheap plastic inflatable for eternity.

I thought this is what the "fart pipe" was invented for. You know the 94 civic with a 1.5L engine and a muffler that can be heard resonating for miles around. They should be banned btw.
knowtion, Mar 20 2009

I realize that most of the post is in jest, but we will really need that sort of thing if electric vehicles come to pass... either that or start coming up with recipes for cat-under-tire pancakes and blind-person-surprise.
FlyingToaster, Mar 20 2009

I have already seen a version that gives your 1.5L Civic the engine sound of any supercar you want. (I knew watching Pimp My Ride was good for something.) So halfway to baked already!

If you Pioneer this new device you can Clarion and make heap of Bosch. Don't worry its Sony a joke!

+ for the title and + for the annos.

Add: fog machine for screeching tire and locked brakes sounds.

M135 "Deuce'n'Half" (sorta like a basso profundo idling outboard motor) - "gluguguglgugugugulglugug..."

[append] it's an old GMC truck with a distinctive sound

People may prefer to bind their books with yesterday's ways, and then later buy books with cheap imitation art on the front that only looks like old book binding.

More stupid, annoying, rude, waste-of-money-that-should- be-spent-on-technical-college bullshit?

       I'll pass. ( - )

       //They should be banned btw.//

That would be the safe thing to do.

Rant: Why don't they enforce noise ordinances? Is it because cops did the same kind of crap when they were kids? Some of these cars are a health hazard for God's sake. And you know who will be funding their hearing aids? Your taxes.
