Car Seat Gutters

The gap between the driver's seat and the centre console in most cars is a black hole which consumes phones, keys, credit cards, loose change... Any object dropped into this crevice settles into a position where it can be touched by the fingertips yet not actually retrieved. Attempts to jam your hand further into the gap merely cause the object to sink lower, and leave you with bruised hand-backs.

The usual way to retrieve objects lost in this way is to stop the car, get out, and then try moving the seat back and forth whilst grovelling in the front and rear footwells. An alternative is to drive into something smartly, so that the lost thing is thrown forward into the front footwell.

Object-lost-in- seat-side-gap woes begone!!

MaxCar (Unc.) is pleased to introduce its range of retrofittable Car Seat Gutters. The gutter consists of a fabric V-shaped pocket mounted on a springy steel frame, which in turn is carried on a Slide- O-Mat sliding slide, which is fixed to the centre console. The pocket itself is compressed between the centre console and the seat, and its Velvetette covering allows full and normal movement of the seat.

Any object dropped down the seat side will be caught in the Car Seat Gutter, where it will nestle safely. At a convenient or opportune moment, the gutter is slid forward on its Slide-O-Mat sliding slide, allowing convenient in-car retrieval of the treasured item.

The Car Seat Gutter, available for most makes of car, is reassuringly priced.

This must have been half baked, and probably for real baked before. I'm just too lazy to search for it so +.

And yet the promised bun fails to materialize....

A crushed bun retrieved from between the seats for you...

We're holding out for the power operated version with the remote control (Takes 4 x AA and 1 x PP3 batteries, not included).

I would pay at least as much pocket change as I've lost between the bucket seat and center console / tunnel for an auto manufacturer to include a flexible cover to prevent items from falling down this abysmal rat hole. I've resorted to stuffing foam bits inbetween to keep from losing items that are for whatever reason unhappy remaining in my trouser pockets into a nearly-impossible-to-recover no-hand's land.
