Classical composers have used Bible verses and poetry as the
source material for choral compositions since ever -- so why
not use some famous lines from cinema?
I would particularly love to hear a cantata based on HAL's
final speech from 2001... but many other famous speeches
and dialogues
could also be used. How about Bogart's "hill of
beans" speech from Casablanca? What other snippets would
you suggest?

At least it isn't an idiotic pun! |

This is a great idea. Why only cantatas? I would love to hear some as baroque style recitative with harpsichord & continuo band! |

Now I've got that Star Wars Cantina ditty stuck in my head. |

I would love to hear me some Schwartzenegger 'I'll be
bach' with some Bach in the bachground... |
