Bullet tent

Mini-dressing tent for surfers

Surfers who don’t own a big van usually have to get dressed outside their cars, exposed to wind chill, with their bare feet on the dirty floor and exposing their bums to the bystanders. A one person sized mini-tent would solve all these problems allowing for a much more comfortable dressing environment for surfers. It would be shaped somewhat like a bullet, with enough height for the surfer to stand upright while dressing. It would be transparent from the shoulders up (or from the waist up if the guy or gal enjoys showing whatever’s higher than the waist). The structure would be easily collapsible to fit nicely in the trunk.

Bizarrely, my new neighbours have erected something fitting this description in our shared garden, but I have no idea what it is... It's about 6" high, cylindrical, and just about big enough for a person to get into. I'm afraid I don't really buy this idea though - too much hassle to erect the thing. Surely most people get changed in much less time than it would take to put it up.

       (1) They're Body Snatchers
(2) They're cone heads

       Either way, they're aliens

[sild] - the way I imagined it it would only take three secs to open the thing. It's a simple structure, no need for a diploma or a protection helmet to erect it.

Quite Baked (see link), though I'm still trying to figure out how the guy in the second picture is going to fit his bicycle in there. Or maybe that's a shoulder-bike?

But getting dressed/undressed in the car is part of the fun...

[TomBomb]: Baked, in Indonesia, for centuries. I just can't remember what the garment is called right now, though. (No, it's not made out of terrycloth.)

[RayfordSteele]: Yeah, but not by yourself...

[DrCurry] They stole my idea!!! :-) Well, I must admit that their solution for the structure looks much better than what I had thought of, but I guess it took them much more than my 10 minutes to think of it ;-)

You and your neighbo(u)rs sure are tiny.

Oh for gods sake! Just whip your keks off double quick and drag on your wet suit outside the car. No one will be that interested and 10 seconds of bare-bumdness isnt going to kill anyone.

There is a simpler way though, if you are that bothered.

This is a method used by the English on the beach. It consists of a bizzare curtain thing on a circle of elastic. This band is placed around the neck allowing the user to change into their cozzie AND do a really good impression of two pigs fighting in a sack at the same time.

[Guncrazy]: I think that's a sarong. They're pretty handy at the beach.
