You wouldn't know it by the quality of my ideas on the halfbakery, but I like to read a lot and don't get enough excercise.
This would be a treadmill, or an exercise bike with a computer screen attached. You would pop in a disk containing an electronic form of a book, and as you walked or ran the
lines of the book would scroll up, so you have to exercise to keep reading.
I suppose it could also work with movies you have to pedal the bike or run on the treadmill or the movie pauses.

Wow! Great Idea! I need one! |

I see many people at the gym reading newspapers or books propped up on the exercise machine, so nothing's stopping you right now. But I get dizzy trying to read and exercise at the same time. |

This is a decent idea, but they'd have to be pretty good screens to deal with the sweat drops. |

I like the concept of needing to keep burning calories in order to keep the words scrolling. And if you're so slow you are getting impatient with the pace, you need to walk faster. |

I've been prototyping a book holder that will go on the exercycle handlebars at the gym - when I'm reading I can forget that I'm exercising. |

You can address the problems of reading while in motion by moving the input to audio - just use books on tape. |

In my gym, there are stair climbers and exercycles that let you watch television while you're working out (but only while you're working out). Of course, with television widely available elsewhere, that's not quite as compelling as it needs to be. |
