Boa Scarf is just a regular scarf that you wrap around your neck to keep warm, except its pattern range is derived from that of the constrictor snake variety; it has a snake head on one end, and it tapers at the other.

Somewhere along it's length there is a padded bulging section to represent a recently swallowed animal being digested. You can unzip this bulging bit and use it as a place in which to store your mobile phone, wallet, iPod or whatever.

Presumably it has some kind of spring or elastic so it coils itself around your head and neck? This would be useful in windy weather.

We would prefer this in Reticulate Python, but definitely [+].

Such items already exist in a primitive form, being used along the thresholds of doors as draught excluders.

Addition of a small animatronic device to make the tongue flicker occasionally would be even better.

       Use a snake.

pointless using a real snake: they're cold-blooded and provide no warmth.

//That's lawyers ... or is it accountants ?//
maybe, but would you really want to use a *live* one as a scarf ?
FlyingToaster, Oct 24 2009

Even though snakes are //cold-blooded//, a big snake would be an effective insulator. A scarf will //provide no warmth// as well; it's the insulation that matters.

The boa scarf is only for use in weather cold enough to make the boa too sleepy to choke and eat you.

This could be a very effective anti-mugging device .....

       Mugger: "Gimmie your wallet !"

You: "OK ... it's inside my snake ......."

<Proffers snake. Beady eyes swivel, tongue flickers>

<Sound of mugger departing at top speed>

It is unlikely that anyone involved in executing street robbery will have anything more than a passing acquaintance with herpetology.

Ideally, the storage pouch within this scarf would hold onto your phone, wallet, etc. pretty tightly. To have these released there should be a switch (e.g. you have to squeeze the scarf's 'head') which causes peristaltic waves to pass down the body of the scarf and for your phone, wallet, etc. to drop out the other end.

"a snake disturbed after having eaten recently will often regurgitate its prey in order to be able to escape the perceived threat. "

Snake digestive systems are quite slow and may take many days to process a meal.
