Bigger Biker Buns

Going by the seat of your pants

I recently acquired a 1999 Moto Guzzi V11 Bassa.

This is my second Moto Guzzi - the first one was a 1972 850 Eldorado.

The seat on that bike was like a couch - large and comfortable all day for two.

Apparently standards have eroded since then - the stock Guzzi seats are well known for being torture devices, and a handful of people make excellent aftermarket upgrades for the bikes.

My Bassa ("low" in Italian) came with one of those aftermarket seats for the pilot half of the seating, made by Russell Day (known as Russell Day-Long seats). But the passenger half of the situation is still stock.

My wife, who strongly encouraged the acquisition of this motorcycle, is eager to ride but less eager about the seating. I will upgrade to a better seat in the near future, but initially my disposable income will be required for license, registration, title transfer, a new battery, etc.

We were talking about a compromise. Fabricate a wearable piece out of very firm foam that on one one side matches to her posterior curves, and on the other side conforms to the profile of the passenger seat.

Then with a lighter, more readily compressible foam, fill out the passenger seat side of the appliance to approximate the curvaceous back side of a callipygous female.

She says if I'll build it she'll take it to the clothing store and tell the girls "Fit me to a pair of jeans that makes this work".

The end result would be a booty prosthesis that would endow my sweetheart with a Guzzi compatible seat that would look impressive when off the bike, yet be comfortable on the bike.

All this to tide us over until I can afford another seat, of course.

The beast in question... http://www.ebay.com..._cvip=true&rt=nc%29
When I first saw the pictures, I said "the tassels, the fairing and the bags all have to go". Now that I've ridden it, they're all going to stay. Re [8th of 7], it's been confirmed as a case of cycle envy. [normzone, Feb 14 2014]

We hate you, and we want you to die a slow, horrible and painful death.

[+] for the idea, by the way.

Is this an expression of envy, or is there something between the Italians and you, or? Are you a Norton man? Is this just a Borg policy update?

It's riding weather here in So Cal right now, unlike the rest of the snow-struck nation. No teleporting deer in this neighborhood either.

//No teleporting deer in this neighborhood either.// Yes, you very rarely hear from motorcyclists who have encountered teleporting deer.

" The end result would be a booty...". When is the video coming out?

If the foam in the pants makes them too tight then the wearer might get numb bum from circulation loss.

Erm, ladies foundation garments do exist like these, and as a by-product make sitting on hard seats as lot more comfy.

Your good lady wife would need to buy bigger jeans if you're going to go very large size, and then you get into a proportions issue vis leg size to butt size, each to their own though....

What makes me think "in today's news a man was apprehended trying to cover Beyonce's rear with modeling latex" and a sudden silence from normzone....
