This is an idea for belts that aren't quite long enough for the end to
reach another loop and end up dangling because the gap between
loops is too great.
Simple in design, it consists of a specially designed hook to go through
a hole in the end of the belt and hook over the top of the portion
of
the belt that's secured. Thus, it holds the belt to itself, preventing
dangling.

I don't think I've worn a belt on the past 10 years. Off topic:
why do people continue to wear them? Out of fashion?
Otherwise I don't see the point. |
You can attach gadgets to them. |
Pericles, I presume they are worn for the same reason I wear
them: to hold one's pants up. I've been biking to work for the
last 6 months, and my waist is getting steadily narrower,
meaning I'm constantly poking new holes in my belt to cinch it
down tighter.
And they hold gadgets, too. |
I thought this was a way to go fishing while scuba diving . But
thisll work |
Why not buy smaller pants? Unless you plan on eating your
way to a thicker waist again ;) |
I wear a belt because it is one of the few areas of the dress code at my place of work that they have yet to legislate, thus I wear whatever sort of belt I damn well please. It's the little things that keep me going. |

... like that smidgen of benzoylmethylecgonine every few hours ... |
better than looping it up and over your pant waist so it pokes you in the gut. |
Hey [Pericles]. Long time, no see. Or have I just not noticed. I've noticed a lot of old timers coming back to roost lately... |
{{{tightens belt for warm fuzzy moment}}}, ahhh, you
old bakers, you. |
Even a properly fitting pair of jeans feels more secure with a belt.

i wear a belt for good luck, does anyone else?
thinking about it i can not identify why i associate belts with good luck?

Some people wear belts so that they have a ready device with which to beat their loved ones. The idea of adding "belt hooks" could help to further complicate family relations in certain circumstances. |

Odd thought/sentence, even for here. Never thought
of it that way. My mom used books and boards. |
// My mom used books and boards //
Are you pitching a claim for having had a deprived childhood, then ? |
My belt has it's own, adjustable loop.
// My mom used books and boards //
// deprived childhood, then ? //
The books would beat some sense into you, surely ? |
I've talked about this here before, so I'm not really
claiming anything, other than that is what was used.
(The night she could only reach the Encyclopedia F-H,
was really a useful one, for me, in the long haul.) |

If you are handy enough to be poking holes and affixing hooks to salvage an old belt, why not just cut the buckle off, shorten the end that was on the buckle, then put the buckle back on, perhaps with some stitches or pop rivets?
Not that I have anything against hooks swinging around one's nether regions. |
This would be an accessory, like a tie tack or a cufflink. |
The loops on a lot of pants, particularly dress slacks, are often
too tight to accommodate an extra layer of belt. And when
you're dressed up nice, a folded-over belt often looks just as
tacky as a dangling belt. It's like the difference between tucking
one's tie into a shirt and using a nice chain stay or tie tack. I
believe the word here is "class". |
The word I usually think of rhymes with that. |
