A modified top hat with a birdhouse-like enclosure and a tunable
radio transmitter. The Little Brown Bat inside is wearing a low-
voltage,
mild shock collar which is paired with the radio transmitter. The
transmitter range can be tuned from 30-200 ft, and the bat is
trained
to respond to the
gentle
shocks by staying within the desired
range. The purpose is, of course, to provide a zone of defense
against
pesky flying insects.

A whimsical idea with practical value. [+] |

Here's my bun. It isn't quite as fresh as the bun I awarded
to our friendly neighborhood Toasterman for 'Frog Hat', but
I didn't think you'd mind. |

My bun is conditional on modifications to the top hat so it looks like a belfry. [+] |

Obligatory Christopher Moore quote:

"Do you know how difficult it is to find Ray-Bans in a fruit bat medium?" (+) |

<pedantry> I believe the quote was "Yeah, and
don't think it's easy finding Ray-Bans in a fruit-bat
medium." <\pedantry> |

Fruit bats can speak with the dead?
|
|

NB fruit bats at a wild guess are not insectivores, but if you wanted to keep a cloud of pesky flying lychee away from you... |
|
|
Fruit bats also are not likely to fit in any but the very
tallest stovepipe hats. |

Hat needs guano chamber to keep bat shit out of your hair.
|
|
|
"As a manure, guano is a highly effective fertilizer due to its exceptionally high content of nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium, three nutrients essential for plant growth. " From Wikipedia

|
|
I doubt the three do anything for hair growth. |

Who knows? Maybe that's the secret of Rogaine. |
