Autonomous vehicle regulations

Autonomous vehicles are the future. They will 'drive themselves' and be safe, comfortable and never crash. Before they come however, we need to get some laws in place, chiefly the law governing the design of such vehicles which will state that the vehicle should contain a dummy driving seat with steering wheel etc., and the seat should be occupied by a model of a manically grinning skeleton or zombie.

We could always write the law to state that the vehicle is advertised as being driven by an unseen ninja.

So that's why we'll never see a flying car... not enough potential for carnage.

       (deja anno...)
A child wanders out in front of the vehicle, not enough room to brake:

       a) run over the child
b) steer into oncoming traffic.

A beachball rolls out in front of the vehicle... etc.

       a) ""
b) ""

//not having a steering wheel that could be used by terrorists//
actually that's a plus for terrorists: autonomic car bombs.

// I see service intervals as the major problem.//
As in you wake up in the morning and find your car missing... because it's driven itself off to go get an oil change ?
