I can never be truly productive on my cellphone because of the input device (ie. the 10 digit numeric keys and/or tiny keys).
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a feature on a cellphone that took advantage of all the unique features of your phone (e.g.accelerometer, orientation sensor, speech recognition,
internet, GPS) and allows you to define quick shortcuts (using your phones unique features) to what would normally be long, tedious tasks performed on your phone...
For example:
- Shake the phone to erase what you typed in notepad (would need accelerometer)
- Take a picture at specific GPS locations during a certain time of day and the picture is automatically uploaded and tagged to your website
- The phone goes into vibrate mode when you turn it upside down or enter a GPS zone of your choice
- When typing in an IM you can press a defined key combo and it will translate it into a full sentence instead of you having to type that common sentence every time to a friend.
If you have other ideas i'd love to hear them!!

I'm pretty sure all this would be feasible on a Symbian-powered phone. I like the idea of an Etch-a-Sketch erase. In fact, I like it so much, I'm going to implement it on Monday.
[EDIT] How about a feature that plays back a sound clip of someone calling "Aaaaaahhhh" if the accelerometer detects freefall? |
|
|
i would settle for a version of AutoHotKeys (linky) that runs on Windows Mobile 6. |

Go go (gone) cellphone. Would that be a good title? What happened? |

Sybian-powered cellphone? |

I like the idea of triggering macros by physical movement and/or location. Key combos are pretty bog-standard, though. |

I sometimes want to slam the phone down with a noisy crash so the caller experiences some pain and is made to understand my displeasure. I would like the phone to detect my sudden movement and emit a satisfyingly load and obvious hang up noise. |

A bit like in old movies. |

An accelerometer should do the trick. |
|
|
Yup the user would be able to use any of the unique abilities of the phone so it isn't just limited to accelerometer, or specific-key presses...for example, if the mobile device had a temperature reader it could trigger something when it reached a certain high in the day |
|
|
[quantass] Your mobile almost certainly has at least one temperature sensor already built into the battery compartment. |

|
In the world of smartphones, this is now widely baked in the
form of apps: Tasker, E-Robot, and Locale just off the top of
my head. |
