This would be a public/nonprofit/private partnership that gives people who are blind or otherwise print disabled, unlimited international access to books, magazines, newspapers, audio- described movies, the internet, 311, chat rooms, counciling, and voting, in a simple clear format, over the telephone, using the push-button key pad. Adding voice recognition and braille accessibility would be a plus, but the main thing here is that the interface is barebones simple and no ads.

The fact that this is audio over an analog line would make it harder to pirate, thus a good compromise with the publishing industry and conservatives in general.

No, I said Access 4 All and its services to blind people, not music for geeks. http://www.nbcnews....c-service-1C9932422

There was a service called -- I think -- Internet by phone in te early 20000s that gave voice access to websites.

There was a service called "ask god" around the same time that hooked seniors up with college grads who would do email, search and banking for 20$ an hour over the phone.
