[half] was spot on when he wrote of the difficulties of the perfect shave. To quote : ... it may take many passes over the same area to accomplish a close shave. Once the area is clean, there's no point in continuing to work on that area, but it's tough to tell when you're done, so extra time may be taken in that area.

[half]'s tactile razor is one potential solution and I now present another.

Additional circuitry is added to your electric shaver or battery operated wet shave razor. This buzzer circuit uses your wet skin to close the loop.

A perfect connection betwix skin and razor indicates a perfectly smooth, stubble-free surface which produces no sound. The rougher the skin, the worse the connection, the louder the noise.

Shave a spot until you can't hear it. An audibly cleaner shave.

Annotation:

I liked it so much I bought the company.

err- couldn't what you've suggested be achieved with a microphone close to the cutting edge ?

yes, of course, but that would be an unnecessarily simple solution.

What about a blood curdling screaming sound when you connect with the longer hairs.

I like this. Now make an electric shaver that shaves properly and you're done.

[wagster], with a microphone, it needn't ben an electic razor (indeed that would be less than preferably).
