Getting a strand of thread through the narrow gap of a tiny sewing
needle is never easy, even with the help of strong reading glasses.
If only the hole would get bigger when you pressed the blunt end
of the needle gently against a hard surface.... This is exactly what
happens when you use the
Articulated Sewing Needle.
This is because the blunt end, featuring the elongated hole, is
composed of a different material, seamlessly fused to the metal
shaft that terminates in the penetrating point. Being able to
expand also enables the needle to facilitate a greater variety of
thread gauges, making them more task versatile.
There are durable plastics which are capable of sustaining
repeated limited distorting pressures without breaking. Combined
material sewing needles may be marginally more expensive, but
their advantages will prevail.

Bimetallic strip could do this. Dip eye end of needle in hot water, eye "opens" - allow to cool, eye closes. |

Or you could just buy better glasses, and cut down on the Absinthe so your hands don't shake quite so much ... |

This is actually pas mal, mon amie. |

At first I thought this would be a sewing needle that bends in the
middle, like an articulated truck. |
